Behind the scenes of our organization is a talented group of individuals that give their time and talents to support the mission of Art with a Heart in Healthcare.
Over the summer, we welcomed two additional members to our Board of Directors (BOD), Bebe Alexander and Bonnie Hayflick. We are delighted to have them as part of the AWAHIH team. Another great change to our BOD, major supporter of the arts and longtime Art with a Heart in Healthcare board member, Brooks Cannon, accepted the position of Board Chair.
Brooks was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and attended Episcopal School of Jacksonville. She attended Hollins University and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in Studio Art. After graduation Brooks moved to Charleston, SC where she became an art consultant for the Richard James Gallery. In 2004, Brooks was approached with the opportunity to open the third Stellers Gallery in Jacksonville which she owned for 3 years.
In 2007 Brooks became the Program Coordinator for The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, a local organization that inspires excellence in young singers through a high-quality choral music education. With the arrival of her daughter Grier in 2010, she decided to become a stay at home mom and a community volunteer.
Brooks has served on the board of directors for over four years and we are so grateful for her continued service.
